    Position Summary

    The Assistant General Counsel is responsible for optimizing organizational efficiency regarding legal matters. The role reviews, drafts and negotiates transportation, employment, real estate and vendor contracts as well as oversees regulatory, insurance and corporate compliance matters. This position ensures legal compliance regarding mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity, transportation and safety regulations, and employee matters. Additionally, the position oversees compliance with corporate governance and establishes the prudence of defending law suits and prosecuting same.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Corporate Governance / Compliance

    • Manage legal compliance with states and agencies, including business licensing, state authorities, transportation licensing, including managing outside counsel assisting with areas.
    • Coordinate with internal executives and outside experts in setting risk mitigation objectives and enterprise risk management.
    • Monitor and address issues relating to the protection of assets and compliance with covenants and conditions of contracts.
    • Establish and maintain contract administration methodology

    Real Estate

    • Assist Real Estate Managers on portfolio.
    • Supervise the Review and negotiation of leases.
    • Retain outside counsel for all property acquisitions and sales.

    Commercial Contracts

    • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts, vendor contracts, and leases and consulting agreements in the normal course of business.
    • Advise client regarding risk contained in all commercial contracts.
    • Establish and maintain corporate standards for acceptable risk tolerance and risk allocations in conjunction with management

    Legal Support

    • Provide practical legal support and advice to operations and employees at all levels in the organization.
    • Advise managers on contract status, legal risks and business terms of various deals.
    • Assist with the corporate governance and compliance function to ensure timely filings and appropriate formalities.
    • Collaborate with Finance, IT and Business Managers on managing overall company risk in areas of insurance, cyber liability, real estate and physical assets.

    Employment Matters

    • Provide advice regarding employment issues/rights while recommending legal action; mediates between employees, independent contractors and HTS.
    • Work in collaboration with the HR Function and other outside counsel to judge the merits of claims filed against the company and works with appropriate management to define the defense and approves settlements of disputes where warranted in the following employment areas:
      • Workers’ compensation
      • Termination of employment
      • Sexual harassment
      • Workplace safety
      • Wage and overtime standards
      • Discrimination against employees based on age, ancestry, color, creed, disability, marital status, medical conditions, national origin, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.
      • Employee benefits
    • Coordinate with HR on the preparation of all HR related policies.

     

    Regulatory Compliance

    • Responsible for awareness of rules and regulations for each business activity.
    • Manage regulatory compliance programs.
    • Retain subject matter experts for regulatory compliance training and conduct or manage such training.

     

    Risk and Litigation

    • Coordinate with in-house Risk Management Group regarding identification of risks and maintenance of adequate coverage through insurance policies.
    • Assist Risk Management in the review and underwriting of risk insurance matters.
    • Participate in the claims evaluation process. 
    • Coordinate with internal claims administration for matters below $ threshold.
    • Manage the Company’s   information gathering, analysis and preparation for dispute resolution processes (including litigation, mediation or arbitration)

     

    Manage outside counsel

    • Manage outside counsel representing company on claims and litigation matters, including facilitating information gathering and consistent strategy.

     

    Job Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    • Law degree  and a member in good standing to the Bar of the State of Illinois
    • 5-10 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
    • Experience with corporate governance issues and corporate secretarial duties
    • Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality
    • Knowledge of statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to businesses

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience with corporate governance and compliance
    • Some knowledge of the Transportation/Logistics business

    Position Summary

    The Terminal Manager is responsible for promoting strategic business growth, customer retention, customer satisfaction, and markets the services of the company. This position ensures compliance with all applicable safety rules and regulations. Additionally, the role manages terminal personnel.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • The Terminal Manager will recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff.
    • Provide positive coaching and counseling to personnel.
    • The Terminal Manager oversees the daily workflow of the terminal.
    • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
    • The Terminal Manager handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
    • Encourage involvement in the quality process toward the goal of continuous improvement.
    • The Terminal Manager ensures appropriate financial management for location and meet company goals. 
    • Prevent waste and lost time.
    • The Terminal Manager schedules employees and oversee work assignments.

    • The Terminal Manager enforces and practice all safety rules of the Company and all government agencies, including but not limited to DOT and OSHA; monitor risk.

    Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications including Word, Outlook and Excel
    • Minimum 5 years of related experience 
    • Staff supervision experience
    • Familiarity with DOT and OSHA regulations
    • Experience managing a location of similar scope
    • Prior experience as a dispatcher or driver
    • Some travel to corporate office and other locations
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements

    • Forwarding invoices for indexing using imaging software (EBE)
    • Audit and process invoices per guidelines, verify data, ensure they meet requirements and approve for payment processing.

    Position Summary

    The Driver Manager will be responsible and accountable for assigning jobs to ensure efficient driver operations. Ensure that company policies are being followed and that work is conducted in a safe manner.  


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • The Dispatcher will develop and maintain professional relationships with drivers to ensure their needs are being met.
    • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with customers to ensure a high level of service.
    • The Dispatcher will maximize driver availability to fully utilize equipment in order to provide maximum revenue and profitability.
    • Review dispatch sheet and driver assignments to ensure all loads are dispatched.
    • Review all orders and process and/or distribute according to terminal procedure.
    • The Dispatcher will ensure timely and efficient movement of loaded trucks carrying various products.
    • Schedule loads and assign qualified drivers.
    • Enter load information into TMW system and prepare Delivery Receipts for each load.
    • The Dispatcher will provide documentation and communicate to drivers all pertinent information for scheduled load(s).
    • Initiate and maintain customer specifications.
    • Safety Date Sheets (SDS) for products hauled.
    • Review driver's Hours of Service Logs for available hours, and update hours in the computer as required.
    • Update and/or forward reports as directed by terminal management.
    • Perform all other duties as specified by the terminal or corporate management.
    • Incorporate measures to prevent waste and lost time.
    • The Dispatcher will effectively address concerns from employees and customers. 
    • Ensure compliance with safety rules, including but not limited to those defined by OSHA and DOT.
    • Enforce and practice all safety rules of the Company and all government agencies, including but not limited to DOT and OSHA; monitor risk.
    • The Dispatcher will understand and follow established policies and procedures in emergency situations.
    • The Dispatcher/ Driver Manager will report to the Terminal Manager.

    The Tank Wash Coordinator assists Tank Wash with any projects and/or daily duties that may arise.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Utilize tools and software in order to compile specific reporting metrics for company customers.
    • Research answers to various customer complaints, interface with customers to provide resolutions, and utilize required communication channels.
    • Conduct visits to company terminals and plants as required.
    • Foster timely responses between operations and customer.
    • Maintain financial security by adhering to internal accounting controls.
    • Contribute to the Total Clean team effort by accomplishing tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Develop and maintain an accurate filing system through the use of a scanner or filing cabinet.
    • Perform additional duties as required.

     

    Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Word
    • At least 1 years’ experience working in an office setting

    Position Summary

    The  General Manager of the lining shop will be responsible for the staffing, organization, and operations of the Lining facility as well as training across the fleet. The General Manager is responsible for inspection and repair of all equipment internal and external. The individual will monitor and evaluate equipment, maintenance decisions, and purchasing of materials. Along with other items that are presented within the fleet, this individual prepares monthly and quarterly reporting requirements, trends, and activity tracking reports. This individual will work closely with the Maintenance and Operations groups. Being timely and being able to prepapre schedules to gain usable equipment for the fleet is critical.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the shop and equipment to ensure a safe, efficient, timely, cost-effective operation.
    • Staff and manage all employees at the facility.
    • Work effectively with customers and meet expectations.
    • Responsible for the inspection and repair of all internal and external equipment in the shop
    • Report trends, efficiencies, and deficiencies across the lining shop
    • Analyze vendors to ensure cost effectiveness
    • Monitor workloads, inventory, and forecast needs
    • Communicate quickly and effectively with various other internal departments
    • Work with outside customers to grow the business.
    • Enforce and comply with all established safety policies and standards to include OSHA regulations and company policies
    • Perform other tasks as necessary

    Job Requirements

    Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • High school diploma or GED and 6 years of work-related experience required.
    • NACE certification
    • 5 years linings and coating industry experience
    • 5+ years of management experience
    • Experience using software (Microsoft Office)

     

     Preferred qualifications

    • Knowledge of the Bulk Transportation industry a plus
    • NACE level 3 certification
    • Experience with Chemline or Derakane

    • Knowledge of automated fleet management information systems.

      Position Summary

      The Tank Wash Supervisor is responsible for providing support and guidance to terminal operations on equipment specifications, preventative maintenance, cleaning procedures, safety practices, environmental compliance, personnel management and customer service. This position is responsible for ensuring that safe, high quality cleaning methods are in place. 

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • The Tank Wash Supervisor helps supervise staff with regards to work allocation, training, problem resolution, and performance feedback. 
      • Ensure all employees are wearing their PPE 100% of the time.
      • The Tank Wash Supervisor oversees that the heel from 100% of the trailers are captured, labeled, classified, and disposed of according to EPA regulations.
      • Ensure trailers are cleaned to the company standard.
      • The Tank Wash Supervisor schedules trailers between customers are cleaned at their requested timeframe.
      • Ensure personnel complete their monthly required training.

      The Settlements Specialist is responsible for ensuring all driver and carrier pay is calculated accurately and timely across the Heniff family of companies including Heniff Transportation Systems, Heniff Logistics, Carry Transit and Miller Transporters.       The Payroll Specialist processes multiple payrolls weekly and ensures accurate and timely payments for all hourly and salaried employees. 


      Duties and Responsibilities: 

      • Obtain and organize payroll information from numerous locations.
      • Accurately configure employees in the Workday software.
      • Manage tax setups in payroll software and reply to tax jurisdiction inquiries.
      • Review applicable Company Driver pay for accuracy. 
      • Generate reports to review potential pay errors.

      Position Summary

      Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, special inspections and general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and Company standards.


      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • The Diesel Truck Mechanic diagnoses and repair tractors and trailers.
      • Perform annual/systematic 90-day inspection in order to ensure equipment meets federal FHWA standards.
      • The Diesel Truck Mechanic performs the following on cargo tanks: internal, external, and upper coupler inspections, heat system, leakage, vacuum, pressure tests and vapor tightness test (EPA Method 27).
      • Determine the overall mechanical condition of tractors, trailers and associated equipment, diagnoses component malfunctions and initiates repair actions.
      • The Diesel Truck Mechanic repairs components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts.
      • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, brakes, hubs, bearings, seals, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, steering, hydraulics; control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
      • The Diesel Truck Mechanic uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts.
      • Properly annotate all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.
      • The Diesel Truck Mechanic operates a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
      • Communicate the need to order and receive parts and supplies as needed.
      • The Diesel Truck Mechanic adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous wastes.

      Position Summary
      The position is responsible for the performance of tasks associated with the cleaning of hazardous, non-hazardous and food grade tanker trailers, on-site remediation, clean-up, equipment de-contamination and handling of hazardous materials.
      Duties and Responsibilities:
      • The Tank Wash Technician ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
      • Operate light and heavy equipment including but not limited to pumps, compressors, boilers, bobcats, forklift, etc.
      • Tank Wash Technician handles various hand tools and powered industrial tools, including pressure washers.

      Position Summary

      The Driver Manager will be responsible and accountable for assigning jobs to ensure efficient driver operations. Ensure that company policies are being followed and that work is conducted in a safe manner.  


      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • The Dispatcher will develop and maintain professional relationships with drivers to ensure their needs are being met.
      • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with customers to ensure a high level of service.

      Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, special inspections and general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and Company standards.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • The Diesel Truck Mechanic diagnoses and repair tractors and trailers.
      • Perform annual/systematic 90-day inspection in order to ensure equipment meets federal FHWA standards.
      • The Mechanic performs the following on cargo tanks: internal, external, and upper coupler inspections, heat system, leakage, vacuum, pressure tests and vapor tightness test (EPA Method 27).
      • Determine the overall mechanical condition of tractors, trailers and associated equipment, diagnoses component malfunctions and initiates repair actions.
      • The Mechanic repairs components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts.
      • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, brakes, hubs, bearings, seals, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, steering, hydraulics; control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
      • The Mechanic uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts.
      • Properly annotate all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.
      • The Mechanic operates a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.

      • The position is responsible for connecting and disconnecting of hoses.
      • This position requires frequent pressure washing.
      • Perform non-permit confined space entries for inspections and sometimes cleaning.
      • This position requires frequent repetitive motion of operating a manual chain fall.
      • Perform parts removal and replacement on customer’s equipment.
      • Perform proper selection of cleaning methods for the products that are cleaned.
      • Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs of cleaning equipment.
      • Monitor the strengths of cleaning solutions.
      • Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

      Work Environment:

      • Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions: including extreme heat and cold while wearing various levels of personal protective equipment.
      • Work with cleaning chemicals and wear appropriate PPE for the environment.
      • Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearance. Working at elevations including working from ladders and scaffolding up to eight feet above ground.
      • Periodically perform work in other areas of the facility as directed by the Shift Leader or Facility Management.
      • This position couples and uncouples tractors/trailers.
      • This position drives a yard tractor, moving units to specified areas.

      Position Summary

      Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, special inspections and general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and Company standards.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • The Mechanic diagnoses and repair tractors and trailers.
      • Perform annual/systematic 90-day inspection in order to ensure equipment meets federal FHWA standards.
      • The Mechanic performs the following on cargo tanks: internal, external, and upper coupler inspections, heat system, leakage, vacuum, pressure tests and vapor tightness test (EPA Method 27).
      • Determine the overall mechanical condition of tractors, trailers and associated equipment, diagnoses component malfunctions and initiates repair actions.
      • The Mechanic repairs components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts.
      • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, brakes, hubs, bearings, seals, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, steering, hydraulics; control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
      • The Mechanic uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts.
      • Properly annotate all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.
      • The Mechanic operates a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
      • Communicate the need to order and receive parts and supplies as needed.
      • The Mechanic adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous wastes.
      • Clean, organize, and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
      • The Mechanic performs welding repairs as needed.
      • Perform additional duties as assigned.
      • The Mechanic reports directly to The Shop Supervisor. 

       

      Requirements

       

      Education and Experience:

      • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
      • Experienced in the use of inspection and test equipment used for cargo tank inspections

      Essential Qualifications:

      • Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles, and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
      • Ability to effectively and efficiently inspect tanks and trailers to align with DOT standards (49CFR HM180.407).
      • Knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures
      • Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software

      Language Skills:

      • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently

      Work Environment:

      • Shop may be susceptible to climate like outdoor weather.
      • Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise.
      • This position includes 0% travel under normal circumstances.
