    Position Summary

    The Associate Staff Accountant is responsible for the collection and maintenance of financial data. The position ensures that financial records are maintained in compliance with lawful and accepted accounting procedures and policies and regulatory requirements.  

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain financial data bases.
    • Maintain control procedures.
    • Analyze basic financial data to resolve certain discrepancies and irregularities that may arise.
    • Support operational needs for fuel cards, CLC cards and other credit cards as needed
    • Process money code transactions, t-check transactions, and Concur transactions
    • Identify and resolve any discrepancy or unsupported items to be invoiced.
    • Prepare and ensure the accuracy of charges invoiced to the customer.
    • Maintain accurate account activity records in appropriate operating and accounting systems.
    • Perform inquiries on account activities.
    • Book journal entries accruals and re-classes as needed.
    • Update and maintain assigned work papers
    • Support the audit process by assisting in the preparation of financial data.
    • Perform additional duties as required.

    Job Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
    • 0 to 4 years of related experience
    • Experience using Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    • Proficient in accounting  software

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Transportation industry experience
    • Experience using Microsoft Great Plains

    Language Skills

    • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently

     

    Physical Demands:  

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
    • This position may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel; reach with hand and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch as needed. 
    • Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

     

    Work Environment: 

    • The position typically operates in a standard office environment.
    • This position routinely uses office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, file cabinets, and fax machines.
