    Position Summary

    The Customer Sales Specialist is responsible for creating a book of business and creating new customer sales for the brokerage division in a 3PL environment of an Asset Based Carrier.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Identify logistics and shipping personnel and establish points of contact as well as building, maintaining and strengthening those relationships.
    • Build a portfolio of business by selling freight services in multiple modes, Full Truck load, Liquid Bulk, Flatbed, Reefer, and Specialized shipments
    • Provide exemplary customer service in a logistics environment of a 3PL Brokerage.
    • Oversee customer operations on accounts and communicate directly with transportation and logistics deparments on their day to day shipments.
    • Accurately, and effectively price, negotiate, and win spot freight and contractual freight via RFPs
    • Create opportunity for relationship building by identifying new leads and contacts in shipping and transportation.
    • Create and use a customer lead list targeting growth accounts.
    • Build higher level customer relations within the transportation industry to gain business.
    • Cover shipments as necessary.
    • Review customer accounts receivable (AR) and ensure payment is made.
    • Actively work to achieve and exceed quarterly and yearly goals including quotas, referral metrics and sales goals.
    • Collaborate with Director, Brokerage Services regarding sales strategies.
    • Perform additional duties as required.


    Job Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree  or equivalent work experience
    • Experience using Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Sales experience

    Physical Demands:  

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
    • May be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel; reach with hand and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch as needed. 
    • Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.


    Work Environment: 

    • The position typically operates in a standard office environment.
    • This position routinely uses office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, file cabinets, and fax machines. Excellent office and tech skills required.
